SOMETHING SPECIAL for the women of First Presbyterian Church. We are fortunate to be able to attend the Fall Gathering of the Southern Region of the Cascades Presbytery without any travel involved. We are hosting the gathering to be held in our church on Saturday, September 30, from 9:00 am until 2:30 pm. Lunch will be served and reservations can be made by contacting Sue Sager at 482-8117 (the cost is $10) by September 23. The theme is Creation Celebration, God’s Work – Light for the Journey. The Rev. Connie Wilkerson, pastor at Central Point Presbyterian Church will lead us in worship, and Circuit Rider Books will be here. Join us in this wonderful gathering of women from as far away as Bandon, Reedsport, Klamath Falls, Tule Lake, and Lakeview, as well as towns closer by.

On Thursday, Sept. 21 (International Day of Peace) there will be a Rachael Corey presentation at our church in the sanctuary at 7 p.m. Rachael Corey was a young American peace activist killed several years ago while attempting to stop a bulldozer from demolishing a Palestinian home in an Israeli-occupied territory. Because of concerns about unintended offense, bias, or criticism of Ashland’s Jewish community that might occur as a result of this program, the mission committee asked Pastor Dalgarno and the Session to weigh the advisability of providing the venue for this presentation. Pastor Dalgarno has spoken with Rabbi Marc Sirinsky and other members of the temple about this, telling them how strongly we believe in hearing different sides of every issue, however volatile. Rabbi Marc graciously said he understands and was pleased to be advised beforehand.
SUPPORT THE ASHLAND EMERGENCY FOOD BANK We are collecting food and money. Your contributions of money buy perishables and foods in short supply and help pay the bills. Staples most needed are cooking oil (pints and quarts), soy and rice milk, canned fruits, canned vegetables (especially peas, corn, and peas & carrots), soups, macaroni and cheese, canned chicken, ham, Spam, salmon, and corned beef. We currently have an excess of tuna and beans. Volunteers are needed to work one or more 2-hour shifts, Monday - Friday, 9-11 and 11-1 at the ICCA Center, 144 N. 2nd St. If you are available to volunteer or would like to know more about the food bank, call Helena Sohl at 482-1327. Food boxes for your donations are in the narthex and Calvin Hall. Checks may be made to First Presbyterian and marked FOOD BANK. Thanks to all for your generous donations to help feed the hungry in our community.
All Church Pot Luck – October 1st at 6:00 p.m. Come help us answer the question: "Do Presbyterians have a fodder complex?" Join in an evening of good food, fellowship, our stewardship kickoff, and a program by a talented group of creative entertainers.

Pastor Scott Dalgarno will team-teach a class with the Rev. Rich Lang on the Enduring Religions of the World beginning September 25/26. If you’ve ever wanted to be exposed to the essence of Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Confucianism, Islam, Judaism, and our own faith, here is your chance. The class will be offered Monday evenings from 7 –8:15 p.m. and repeated on Tuesdays from 10 - 11:15 a.m. This gives you a choice of day or evening classes. If you need childcare, please phone the office (482-3536) and let us know so we can schedule it.
THE GOSPEL OF MARK, an ongoing Bible study based on Ched Myers' commentary Binding the Strong Man, is being offered on Wednesday nights from 7-8 pm in Calvin Hall. Childcare is provided.
Westminster Circle – Thursday, September 21 Stella Schaaf and Ruth Klaus will host the September gathering of Westminster Circle at the Schaaf home, 175 Neil Creek. Rd. (488-1733). Between 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. there'll be time for friendship building and launching into the new Horizons Bible Study: In the Beginning Perspectives on Genesis. New members and visitors are always welcome at Westminster Circle as we grow in faith and friendship together.
Cards in the pew racks are available for you to inform the office and Deacons if you or someone you know needs a call. Just fill out one side or the other and place in the collection plate.
NEW CHURCH ROSTER – Please pick up your updated church roster on the table in the Narthex and in the Chapel after worship this morning. This will serve as a supplement to your March 2005 Pictorial Directory. Please check for errors or changes needed. Call the church office, 482-3536, with any changes.
CHURCH INFORMATION FOLDERS – New Church Information Folders can be found on the table in the narthex this morning. Please feel free to pick one up and pass it on to friends and neighbors who might be interested in attending our church. Please pass one on to any visitors with whom you might come in contact. These folders have been prepared by the Membership and Church Growth Committee.
